Across a deep red ground, a dense floral jaal blooms in fuchsia, marigold orange, teal, violet and soft greens — every flower, vine and leaf built up thread by thread on the loom rather than embroidered. The wide pillared border in candy pink, orange, plum and green frames the field like a row of arches, finished with hand-knotted fringe. This is twill-tapestry weaving at its most ambitious, where the colour comes entirely from the weave itself.
