Woven thread by thread on a handloom, this Kani Pashmina shawl carries its pattern within the very cloth — not stitched on top, but built into the weave itself. Against a soft natural taupe ground, a jewel-toned floral jaal of blossoms, birds and trailing vines unfolds in pinks, greens, blues and gold, framed by striped palledar end-panels. Following a coded talim chart, the weaver interlocks dozens of tiny wooden bobbins by hand, a Mughal-era Kashmiri craft in which a fine piece can take many months to complete.
Spun from pure Himalayan Pashmina, the shawl is featherlight yet warm, with a supple, fluid drape that settles beautifully around the shoulders. The colourful design reads on both faces of the cloth — true wearable art. An heirloom piece for weddings, festive occasions and evenings when you want something quietly extraordinary.
