Shipping & Returns
Every piece we sell is made by hand, one at a time. A shawl can take months to complete — at the loom, or under the needle, worked in the hours a maker can give it. No two are ever identical. The small shifts in weave, in the depth of a colour, in the turn of a stitch are the record of a hand at work, not a flaw to be corrected.
We buy directly from the people who make these pieces, and every shawl leaves us with our own certificate of authenticity, naming what it is and where it came from.
We ask you to receive a piece the way you would a painting you are still deciding on. Unwrap it, hold it, take it to the window and look at the light moving through the weave. Try it against your skin. But please live with it before you live in it — once a shawl has been worn out, it cannot go back to being unworn.
Shipping
Each order is checked, photographed and wrapped by hand before it leaves us, so please allow 2 working days for dispatch.
- UK tracked delivery — £5.99, or free on orders over £200. Typically 2-3 working days once dispatched.
- International — £20, typically 7-10 working days. Any customs duties or import taxes are payable by you and are not included in our prices.
Every parcel is sent on a tracked, signed-for service. We will email you the tracking number on dispatch
Returns on orders placed through this website
If you order online, you have a legal right to change your mind. You may cancel within 14 days of receiving your order, for any reason at all, and you then have a further 14 days to send the piece back to us. We refund within 14 days of the shawl reaching us, including the standard outbound delivery you paid.
To start a return, email us at info@miraaskashmir.com with your order number. You do not have to give a reason.
Sending it back
- Please return the shawl with its certificate of authenticity and original wrapping.
- Return postage is paid by you unless there is a defect. Use a tracked and insured service — until the parcel reaches us it is still your responsibility, and these are not inexpensive things to lose.
Condition
You are entitled to handle a piece as you would in a shop: to unwrap it, examine it, and try it on. If it comes back beyond that — worn out, perfumed, marked, smoke-scented, altered, or without its certificate — we may reduce your refund to reflect the loss in value. On a hand-embroidered piece that reduction can be substantial, because we cannot sell it again as new.
Pieces bought in person
Shawls bought at an event, a stall or directly from us in person are not distance sales, so the 14-day cancellation right above does not apply to them. You have had the piece in your hands and seen it in the room.
We would still rather you were happy than hold you to a sale. If you change your mind within 5 working days and the shawl is unworn and comes back with its certificate, talk to us and we will exchange it or refund it.
If something is wrong with a piece
Nothing above limits your statutory rights. If a shawl arrives faulty, damaged, or materially not as we described it, you have 30 days to reject it for a full refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and longer rights to a repair, replacement or partial refund after that. Send us a photograph and we will sort it out; you will not be asked to pay return postage on a faulty piece.
The natural variation described at the top of this page — irregularity in a handwoven ground, slight asymmetry in embroidery, small differences from the photographs — is not a fault. It is the evidence that a person made it. We photograph every piece in daylight and describe it honestly, so that what arrives is what you chose.
