2. Description
A deep forest-green Pashmina shawl alive with a thousand tiny blooms. This is a true Kani piece — the dense, multicoloured floral jaal in pink, magenta, purple, mustard, blue, rust and ivory is not stitched onto the surface but woven directly into the cloth, thread by thread, on a traditional Kashmiri handloom. Using dozens of small wooden bobbins (kanis) and a centuries-old coded pattern called a talim, a master weaver builds such a design at barely an inch a day, so a single shawl can take many months of patient work. The richly striped end-panels, patterned with delicate leaf and tulip motifs, frame the emerald field and finish in a soft tasselled fringe.
Spun from fine Kashmiri Pashmina, the cloth is featherlight yet beautifully warm, with a fluid, elegant drape that settles softly at the shoulders. A heritage craft once prized by Mughal emperors, a Kani Pashmina is wearable art — perfect for weddings and festive occasions, treasured across evenings and winters, and destined to become an heirloom to pass down.
