At each end of this shawl a row of tall paisleys rises from the edge, their outlines stitched by hand in Sozni and filled with curling fronds, small flowers and fine leafy sprays. A narrow band of the same ivory needlework runs along both long sides, so the pattern frames the cloth without crowding it.
The rest of the shawl is left in plain indigo, which lets the paisleys stand out clearly when the ends fall at the front. It is handwoven from pure Pashmina, the fine cashmere of Kashmir: light, soft and gently warming, and easy to wear over a coat by day or a dark dress in the evening.
