The Sozni band is stitched by hand with slender paisleys set end to end among small leaves and flowers, the red ground of the needlework lit with gold and olive, and its inner edge is finished in a row of fine pointed tips.
The border is generous enough to show clearly however the shawl is draped, and the plain centre keeps it graceful. The cloth is handwoven from pure Pashmina, the fine cashmere of Kashmir: feather-light, soft and gently warming. A handsome heirloom piece, and many months in the making.
