Woven thread by thread on a Kashmiri handloom, this Kani Pashmina carries its colour and pattern within the very weave — never embroidered on top. Bands of ivory and soft taupe run the length of the cloth, each stripe filled with a jewel-toned floral vine in turquoise, coral, magenta, ochre and violet, closing in decorated end-panels of upright blossoms. The design follows a coded talim, the weaver's symbolic chart, built up on tiny wooden bobbins called kanis — a Mughal-era craft once prized by emperors and European nobility alike.

Spun from the ultra-fine undercoat of the Himalayan Changthangi goat, the cloth is featherlight yet warm, with a soft, fluid drape that settles beautifully over the shoulders. The striped palledar field and fringed ends make it equally at home with daywear or draped as wearable art for weddings, festive evenings and occasions that call for something heirloom-worthy.
